Short Trip Ideas from Lukovo

Lukovo near Senj is located in a unique area where the sea meets the mountains. It is an ideal starting point, offering peace and tranquility while remaining close to the region’s main attractions.

Nature and Outdoor Activities

  • Lukovo – Donja Klada Educational Trail

    A beautiful coastal walking path connecting Lukovo with the fishing village of Donja Klada. Perfect for a relaxing seaside walk with views of the Velebit Channel.

  • Northern Velebit National Park

    The entrance at Krasno (or Zavižan) is about a 45–60 minute drive away. Visitors can explore the Velebit Botanical Garden or walk along parts of the famous Premužić Trail.

  • Zavratnica Bay

    One of the most beautiful bays on the Adriatic (part of Velebit Nature Park), located south of Lukovo. It can be reached on foot from Jablanac or by boat. The bay is famous for a sunken World War II ship that is visible from the surface.

  • Nehaj Fortress

    The symbol of Senj, built in 1558. Visitors can explore the Uskok museum inside and enjoy panoramic views of Krk, Rab, and Goli Otok.

    Located in the Vukasović Palace, it offers insight into the city’s rich history from Roman times to the present.

  • Velika Vrata (Great Gate)

    The historic end of the Josephina Road, which once connected Karlovac and Senj.

  • Krasno

    Visit this mountain village known for its cheese, especially Velebit cheese, and the Shrine of Our Lady of Krasno.
